To enhance the Medical Center's financial resources, while building awareness, so it may provide excellent health care services to all members of the community.
MORE ABOUT THE FOUNDATION:
The Foundation was formed in order to meet the medical needs of the growing Charles County community by ensuring that Civista Medical Center, formerly Physicians Memorial Hospital (PMH) would continue to serve and prosper. In 1985, the Foundation was incorporated as a subsidiary of PMH/Civista so that it could raise the vital funds the hospital could not otherwise raise on its own. The Foundation received its IRS tax exempt nonprofit status in March 1986.
For the first 10 years, the Foundation budgets were small, as was the staff, until January 1995. Before that time, PMH was paying for salaries/benefits AND all other expenses. During fiscal 1996, a transition to PMH underwriting only salaries and benefits developed. Rent and utility overhead was donated by PMH/Civista and all operating costs are paid directly by the Foundation. Since 2009, the Foundation operations are fully sustaining salaries and benefits as well as all expenses of its operation, so that 100% of its net profits can be donated to the Medical Center.
Since its inception, the Foundation has provided more than $9 million to the Medical Center.
In 2009, the Foundation received its largest gift in the history of its organization from the estate of Eva Irene Davis. This seven figure gift made an immediate impact on the Foundation, enabling it to increase its net assets and become a more sophisticated Foundation.
In 2010, the Civista Health Foundation acquired the former Physicians Memorial Hospital on Garrett Avenue, restored and renovated the building and renamed it the Irene Davis Pavilion. The building was formally dedicated on October 18, 2012 and currently houses the Foundation, the HR and Marketing Departments, the leadership offices for the Auxiliary and the entire second floor is leased to Greater Baden Medical Center.
On July 1, 2013, the Civista Health Foundation formally changed its name to the Charles Regional Medical Center Foundation, Inc.
In 2016 the Foundation is celebrating its 30th anniversary.
